Senior Portraits: Taryn

In April I had the opportunity to attend Zack Arias’s OneLight Workshop in Phoenix (I will post more on that later). The day after the workshop Jen, my good friend and photographer, set up a senior session for us to practice our new skills on. Our thought for this was that the info would “stick” better if we put it into use immediately.

We had a great time with Taryn and she was such a fun and happy Senior to work with. I think she has the best smile!

Briscoe Class of 2011: Charity

I really love photographing senior girls. They are always so enthusiastic and fun to work with.
Charity was especially wonderful to work with as she came very prepared. She brought a ton of clothes (on hangers! Major plus), accessories, and shoes for us to go through and she has such a great sense of style.
I thought her outfits fit her sweet and sunny personality and appreciated all the time and effort she put into styling her session.

Charity thank you so much for driving so far and staying SO long! You (and your Mom) were such a delight to work with!

Senior 2011 : Karis

Back in the day, Karis would walk over and babysit Gavin for me. Yes, I was that lucky that I had this awesome teen as a neighbor. I sure do miss her, not only for her convenient and reliable babysitting skills but also for her fun, vibrant, and spirited personality. I do so love Karis!

She accompanied her sister Meg and friend Mary Anne for the shoot and I had such a great time with them all. Seriously I want to do every single senior shoot in batches of three, it makes it that much more adventurous and fun!

The light here was so pretty and warm…

This location may look familiar to some of you…I just couldn’t help but put each of the girls in this light. It was AMAZING…

Karis, I miss you so much and I am so glad I can count you as a friend! You better keep me well informed as you start college as I am so exited to see what life has in store for you!

Senior 2011 : Mary Anne

Mary Anne is part two of the three part Houston session that I had such a great time doing several weeks ago (part one is here and part three will be up this week). We drove down to Houston together and ran around the city. I love being with these girls! I have had the awesome privilege to watch them grow up and Mary Anne is like a little sister to me.

I have photographed May before, you can see them here. She is too pretty for her own good. But luckily she is really smart and doesn’t let it go to her head.

Mary Anne, certainly I don’t need to tell you how much I love you? I mean you know how much right?!?

Meg : Houston Portrait Session

Once upon a time I taught Meg’s 3-4th grade Sunday School class. Now she is in high school. Time blows my mind on a daily basis.

Meg has always been tall and pretty but now she is gorgeous and statuesque. Give her 5 more years and she is going to be knocking our socks off.

A good tip for shooting in urban areas is enlist the buildings around you to aid in making stellar images. In the close up below I noticed the pretty golden light reflected off the high rise across the street. The building was close to the color of the building she is leaning against and cast a nice golden light on her skin. In the other image, I placed her right inside the shade of the trees so that the sunlight would bounce off the sidewalk under her, casting nice even light across her skin and filling in shadowy areas.

I love being around Meg. Her quiet and introspective character coupled with her quick wit makes her a fabulous person to be around. Watching her grow up and gain confidence in herself has been such a treasure.

Lauren: The Woodlands Senior Session

Lauren didn’t have senior pictures so we decided to make that wrong right and get some senior-style images done. Better late then never. Right?!

I have photographed Lauren and her sweet family before and I was looking forward to another session with her where we could focus on everything that is Lauren. She is one of those people who is not shy in front of the camera and I loved her enthusiasm and excitement for our session. Lauren brought her game and was prepared to work it. Her sis-in-law Delaney came along to help as fashion consultant/beauty stylist and did such a great job (Thanks Delaney you rock!).

Lauren thank you again for giving me so much of your time. I am so proud of what a stunning woman you have become! I would be SO honored to photograph you and your family again!

Senior 2011: Josiah

We have known Josiah for several years and it has been awesome to see him grow into a confident young man who is not only incredibly intelligent and involved but also unashamedly caring and sweet toward his family. I am sure Josiah’s parents are incredibly proud of their oldest son!

This was the day after I arrived back from Nichole Van’s Lighting Workshop and I was eager and excited to put my new found lighting skills to use. Josiah cordially obliged and we made set up on top of a parking garage so we could get some good shots of the approaching sunset. After setting up my lights, I fired off several shots…

At this point security drove up and politely kicked us out. This was a first for me and I felt as if I had arrived as a “real” photographer. Silly but true.

Josiah, thanks so much for giving me so much of your time! I appreciate what a pleasant, genuine, and bona fide (Dustin picked out that word for you) guy you are! Good luck with your senior year and I know I will be hearing great things about you in the future!

Senior 2011: Bailey

Bailey was awesome to work with. She is beautiful, smart, fun, dedicated and willing to spend HOURS with me to get the shots I wanted. I think she may have got tired of hearing, “Just one more, I promise!” from me. If she did she only showed it by being increasingly more sweet and mellow as the evening progressed. Bailey is my first rep for 2011 and she brought IT. Big time.

Apparently I was really into geometric shapes that day.

Bailey I had such a blast with you! You are gorgeous inside and out. I will be calling you to watch my kiddos soon!

Wanted: 2011 Senior Reps {Amarillo and Canyon}

I am SO looking forward to photographing seniors from the class of 2011 and I can’t wait to find my reps for this year!

What is a senior rep you ask?

Senior reps are fun and out-going students from Amarillo, Canyon, and surrounding schools who receive a ton of perks including (but not limited too) a complimentary session, rep cards, gift cards, print and product credits in exchange for telling everyone about your uber-awesome experience with The Salted Image. The more students you refer to me, the more free stuff you can get! It is as easy as that!

So how do you qualify?
-You need to be a class of 2011 Senior
-Attend any area public, private or home school.
-Schedule your shoot for a date before September 1st.
