Falling Poppy Petal with Wire

I came across this image today from last spring and thought I would share as I really like how it turned out.

I loved the texture and color of these poppies but while I was photographing them one of the petals fell.

I wished I had been able to capture the moment the petal fell so I decided to recreate it for my camera. I tried just dropping it but could not capture the right moment successfully so I used floral wire to attach the petal to the stems.

I removed the wire in LR and PS using my very basic and crappy retouching skills. :)

Here is a SOOC shot just to show you how lovely my Sony does with still life images.

I absolutely love how my Sony captures detail on flowers, I don't really appreciate how well it captures detail on my face. 🙄

Have you ever used a trick like this to get the shot you envisioned? I would love to hear about it in the comments!
